Vicky Carne is an experienced entrepreneur who spent years working in the publishing and technology industries. She has always had a passion for animals, particularly dogs, and for over a decade worked full-time as a dog trainer. She now focuses on writing articles, creating videos and publishing her own and other dog trainers’ courses online. Dr. Jessica Hekman is a veterinarian and geneticist with a passion for supporting ethical breeding practices and improving the conversation around reputable breeding. She received her DVM/MS degree from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and completed her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied the genomics of foxes bred for tameness and aggression. After receiving her PhD in 2017, she worked at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as part of the Darwin's Ark project and the Working Dog Project, studying the genomics of behavior in pet and working dogs.

In 2020, she founded the Functional Dog Collaborative, an organization dedicated to advancing the understanding of canine behavior and genetics. Dr. Hekman currently splits her time between teaching the biology of behavior at Virginia Tech, working with the Functional Dog Collaborative, and offering online webinars and consulting services.

Dr. Kathy Murphy is a veterinary surgeon and neuroscientist who graduated from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999. She has post graduate clinical qualifications in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, and Laboratory Animal Science. In 2009, she was awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowship to study for her PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience at The Queens College, University of Oxford. She later worked in the USA as Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Anesthesiology at the Icahn School of Medicine NYC but returned to the UK in 2013 to take up clinical-academic positions at the University of Oxford and Newcastle University. She is currently the Director of Barking Brains Ltd, a neuroscience outreach platform for the animal behavior and training community, and the Chief Scientific Officer at Behavior Vets.
