HISTORY
The Borzoi, boasts an aristocratic lineage dating back to the imperial courts of Russia. These sight hounds, characterized by their elegant curvaceous outline and luxuriant coat, were the chosen companions and hunters of the Russian nobility. The breed's name, translating to 'swift' in Russian, is a testament to their speed and agility, traits that were honed for the pursuit and capture of formidable prey like wolves. Borzois were not only hunters but also symbols of prestige and luxury, often seen alongside their noble owners adorned in brightly colored hunting silks. From the 16th century onwards, these majestic dogs have been an indelible part of Russian aristocratic culture, with large kennels of Borzois maintained for grand hunting expeditions and ceremonial feasts marking their successful hunts.
